Mothman is a legendary creature reportedly seen in the Point Pleasant area of West Virginia, United States, in the 1960s. Described as a large, winged humanoid with glowing red eyes, Mothman sightings were often associated with disaster and tragedy, particularly the collapse of the Silver Bridge in 1967, where many claimed to have seen Mothman beforehand.

The phenomenon gained widespread attention due to the book The Mothman Prophecies by John Keel, which explored various paranormal events and UFO sightings connected to Mothman sightings. Mothman has since become a part of American folklore and continues to capture the imagination of cryptozoologists and enthusiasts of the supernatural.
