Event Details
The Romeoville Art Society is partnering with our Romeoville Branch for a summer community art project "One Earth" that kicks off Friday, June 7th. The Romeoville Branch is looking for artists of all ages to stop by the Children's or Adult & Teen Service desks and pick up a "Take & Make-and Return" art tile with a set of instructions. Tiles will be available through July 31st. Artists can create their own nature piece (snails, self portraits, prairies, anything Earth related!) with whatever materials they select (collage images from magazines, chalk, acrylics, crayon, quilled paper and so on). We ask that participants turn in their piece to these same service desks by August 1st so that the Romeoville Art Society members can begin sewing the completed art tiles together into quilts that will be installed at the Romeoville Branch for all to enjoy. You do not need to live in Romeoville or be a cardholder to participate-this community project is open to everyone interested!
Save the Date! Thursday, September 26th at 6:30pm "One Earth" Community Art Reception with Romeoville Art Society at Romeoville Branch Library
Our community art project installation is planned for early September! On Thursday, 9/26 6:30-8:00pm we will view our public art piece together, and celebrate! At this reception, we will have a sign-up sheet so participants can take turns telling others about their creation and what community art means to them. We thank those of you who contribute and those of you who are interested in attending this event to support our community~ and art!
Light refreshments will be served.
