Program Description

Event Details

Did you know that Bakelite was one of the first plastic-like materials to be introduced into the modern world and was popular because it could be moulded and then hardened into any shape? It became a great commercial success as artisans used it to create many items including jewelry. The retro appeal of old Bakelite jewelry has made them collectible. Perhaps you've seen some pieces at our White Oak Library Foundation Bling Bling Sale/Fundraiser, held in September.

Join Barbara Sharp, one of our Library Foundation Bling Bling event volunteers, as she provides a show and tell presentation about her extensive knowledge on, and love for, Bakelite jewelry. If you have some pieces you'd like to bring in to show and tell as well, you are welcome to do so!
