Program Description

Event Details

At this event, historian Mitch Frumkin will provide live commentary during a video screening of "The Chicago Auto Show History." It's a dynamic 50-minute presentation that chronicles the evolution of the annual event from its inception in 1901 to the latest 2024 edition. Frumkin's fast-paced video features carefully-selected archival photos, film clips, audio recordings, and personal insights that immerse the audience into the excitement and grandeur of the previous 116 auto shows. Highlights include the Fabulous 1950s, the evolution of 1960s Muscle and Pony Cars, Imports, Exotic Supercars from around the world, Futuristic Dream and Concept Vehicles, as well as the musical stage revues, appearances by legendary sports and entertainment celebrities, community beauty queens, and even live cougars!

Following the screening, Mitch Frumkin will conduct a raffle where lucky winners can receive pairs of complimentary tickets to the 2025 Chicago Auto Show (Feb 8-17), Turtle Wax car care products, and copies of Frumkin's book "First To One Hundred : History of the First 100 Chicago Auto Shows."
