Who is Bess the Book Bus?

Bess the Book Bus is a Tampa-based mobile literacy outreach dedicated to building home and classroom libraries. We instill a love of reading by making the joy of book ownership a reality. We believe that the combination of choice, access and joyful reading will help all children identify as readers for a lifetime of learning. Bess has given 950,000+ books to children throughout Tampa Bay and the contiguous U.S. (as part of our national reading tours). We provide new books to readers and teachers in a fun and interactive way.

Will you be bringing a bus?

Yes! Our beautiful and colorful bus will be visiting the site. The bus is outfitted with rolling carts which will be loaded with a wide array of books that were curated for your own special Joy of Reading Book Fair.
