Program Description
Event Details
Bessie Coleman, portrayed by her great niece Gigi Coleman, shares her experiences leading her to becoming the first African American to earn her international pilot's license and the first black woman in the world to fly an airplane. With Coleman’s unwillingness to take “no” for an answer, she achieved many accomplishments in the U. S. in the field of aviation and led the way for African Americans to pursue their aviation dreams.
Chicagoan, Gigi Coleman, the great niece of Bessie Coleman—the world's first African American woman to become a licensed pilot—is continuing the legacy of her great Aunt Bessie in this dramatical portrayal.
